Educate. Experience. Evangelize.
The mission of catholic schools and catholic religious in the Diocese of Saint Catharines is an essential part of the fulfillment of the educational ministry of the Roman Catholic Church. Its primary goal is the ongoing formation of the Christian person by developing the spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural, emotional and physical gifts of the students entrusted to our care.
The schools of the Diocese of Saint Catharines continue a tradition of academic excellence and faith-formation in safe, respectful and caring environments conducive to learning.
In 49 elementary schools, eight high schools, one private academy and a centre for continuing education and international student programs our schools provide opportunities for academic excellence in caring, faith-filled communities for over 240,000 students of all faiths and backgrounds.
The Religious Education and Catechesis provides authentic, effective and lifelong catechesis. Through Catechesis, Adult Faith Formation, R.C.I.A. and other programs the Diocese of St. Catharines support catechetical leaders in their responsibility to form Disciples of Christ.

PLEASE CONSIDER OUR STUDENTS IN NEED
One in five students goes to school hungry every day. Annually, during a normal school year, over one million meals are served to students requiring nutrition. Other statistics tell us that 80% of classroom learning is done through the eyes, and one child in four suffers from some kind of vision problem severe enough to impact learning. Some students cannot afford eyeglasses. $15.25 will provide a balanced breakfast or nutritious lunch and healthy snack for a week. Through the Foundation’s “Seeing Clearly” program, $149.00 will purchase eye glasses for a student in need.
A number of students lack daily essentials such as warm clothing, shoes, personal care items, money for school uniforms, equipment for students with special needs or the financial means to pursue a rewarding education beyond secondary school.
When COVID-19 forced school closures the Foundation stepped up and supported the Niagara Catholic District School Board with $10,000 to purchase Wi-Fi access so students in need could learn from home. Grocery cards were provided to needy families that enabled them to put food on the table. A secondary school student faced a serious health issue, the need for an organ transplant, and the Foundation contributed to a fundraising campaign to assist in operation-related costs.
The Niagara Foundation for Catholic Education is a registered charitable foundation and receipts are issued for tax purposes. Any offer of support to assist students in need would be greatly appreciated.
