I arrived in Dublin, Ireland this morning and was able to move from the airport to the hotel very quickly. After dropping my luggage off at the hotel, I went immediately to the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) grounds where they are holding the various Congress events. I was able to attend the opening ceremonies and the opening Mass. They were both very beautiful celebrations focusing on the theme, "though we are many we are one body".
The music was inspiring and sung with great devotion by the Irish soloists and choirs. There were many people present including Bishops, priests, deacons, religious sisters, seminarians and laity from all the counties of Ireland and from many countries throughout the world. It is a great privilege to be part of this international celebration that focuses on the great gift of the Eucharist. I am now going to try and get the sleep that I missed on my flight last night.
Please know that you are remembered in my prayers and thoughts as I continue to make this eucharistic pilgrimage in Ireland.
