Reflection for the Second Sunday of Lent
I wish to share with you a pun that refers to the First Reading of the Second Sunday of Lent. One day Abraham asked his son Isaac where in heaven he could get more memory from his computer. Isaac responded “Remember, God will always provide The RAM”. This reading reminds us why Abraham is called our Father in Faith. He listened, trusted, and followed the will of God even when it seemed most difficult. We are called to do the same especially during Lent. During this holy season, like Peter, James and John, we climb mount Tabor and gaze upon the glory of Our Lord. We listen to him and rejoice because, “it is good to be here”. We are also strengthened by this Lenten experience so that at its conclusion, when we descend the mountain, we can echo the words of St. Paul to the Romans, “If God is for us who is against us…Who will separate us from the love of Christ?” This is the confidence that comes from faith; this is the confidence we should have in Christ.
